Two Lowndes residents win $50,000 playing Powerball

| January 18, 2016

VALDOSTA – A pair of $50,000 Powerball tickets were sold in Lowndes County last week, and one of the winning tickets has yet to be claimed.

While winners in California, Florida and Tennessee were splitting last week’s record $1.6 billion Powerball lottery jackpot, Georgia players were celebrating smaller, but still substantial, wins.

Two Georgians were holding $1 million winning tickets during last week’s drawing. Three won $50,000 a piece, including two Lowndes County residents, according to Georgia Lottery officials.

One of the winning tickets was sold at the Kushi Food Mart on Northside Drive and was claimed Thursday. The other was sold at the Lakes Boulevard Flash Foods in Lake Park but has yet to be claimed.
