Two arrested in armed robbery, chase, shootout

MADISON, Fla. – Authorities have arrested two in connection with the armed robbery of a Madison grocery store Sunday night that was followed by a chase and a shootout with a deputy.

At approximately 10 p.m., the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Winn-Dixie on Highway 90 West after receiving a 911 call about an armed robbery.

A MCSO deputy reportedly spotted two suspects after arriving on scene. The suspects led the deputy on a chase, travelling north on Highway 53. The deputy came under fire during the pursuit, reports WCTV.

The suspects’ vehicle ran off the road and hit a power line pole after the deputy returned fire. The incident occurred on Highway 53 north of Little Cat Road.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the suspects.
