VALDOSTA – The National Weather Service in Tallahassee is forecasting possible severe storms for Valdosta and the surrounding areas Thursday night and Friday morning.

Lowndes County is a “marginal risk” zone as a strong system brings severe storms to the Florida panhandle, Alabama and Georgia.

While north Georgia braces for possible snow flurries, the storm could bring strong winds and possible tornadoes to the south.

NWS predicts a low of 50 degrees Thursday night for the Valdosta area and a 90 percent chance of rain on Friday, along with a high of  65 and a low of 36.

Between a half and three quarters of an inch of rainfall is possible.
