South Georgia Employer Committee to co-host workplace violence seminar in Valdosta

VALDOSTA– The South Georgia Employer Committee and the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce will co-sponsor a seminar on workplace violence on Thursday, Jan. 21. It will be held from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in the city of Valdosta’s annex building located at 300 North Lee St.

The seminar will be led by Brian Childress, chief of the Valdosta City Police Department. It will focus on what constitutes workplace violence, what are the warning signs, and what supervisors and other employees can do to prevent violence in the workplace.

The seminar is designed for business owners, managers, human resource personnel, and other professionals overseeing workplaces.

The fee for the seminar is $15 for those who register by Friday, Jan. 15, while it is $20 for those registering after that date.

The South Georgia Employer Committee is comprised of employers in Brooks, Cook, Echols, Lanier and Lowndes counties. Employer committees are groups of local business representatives who establish and maintain working relationships between employers and GDOL career centers.
