VALDOSTA – Scintilla Charter Academy will be accepting applications for new scholars from Jan. 11 to Jan. 29.  Applications will be available beginning Jan. 11 at or in the Academy’s front office at 2171 East Park Avenue.

Should the Academy receive applications that exceed available openings in a specific grade level, a public lottery will be held Feb. 4 to determine which students will have the opportunity to enroll for the 2016-2017 school year.

Families who are interested in visiting the SCA campus may do so by calling (229) 244-5750 to set up a tour.  Tours are conducted by appointment on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.  Tours will take place every 30 minutes during this time.

To attend Scintilla Charter Academy, scholars must be entering Kindergarten through 5th grade at the beginning of the 2016-2017 school year.  Kindergarten scholars must be 5-years-old on or before Sept. 1, 2016.  The parent/guardian and the child must live in Valdosta or Lowndes County

The mission of Scintilla Charter Academy is to increase student achievement and develop social responsibility through educational innovations in a safe community of involved families and educators.

The Academy’s vision is to provide a spark to ignite a community of people who are excited about the innovative education of our children. An innovative small school design and a focus on project-based and service learning improves student achievement for SCA scholars.

Scintilla’s staff and highly qualified, effective teachers work to engage both parents and the community in the scholars’ educational and character development and families are welcomed into the school and their participation in every aspect of a scholar’s educational journey is expected.

Scintilla Charter Academy is a free public school.  For complete information regarding the academy, please visit or call the school at 229-244-5750.
