As ten American sailors were forced to kneel before their Iranian captors with their hands behind their heads, their commander in chief, President Barack Obama, brayed before the Congress of the United States that “The United States of America is the most powerful nation on earth. Period. It’s not even close. It’s not even close.”
The Persians holding the nine servicemen and one servicewoman hostage clearly viewed things differently, as did the Iranian leadership when they tested a ballistic missile with nuclear warhead capabilities in October, all in violation of international law.
Not to worry: there’s an Iranian Nuclear Weapon Deal on the books. Speaking of which, the details are now being implemented which not only releases billions of dollars to this extremist, jihadist regime but “restricts” them to a slower, longer, and no doubt inconvenient, 15 year path to developing a nuclear weapon.
What could possibly go wrong?
And just to keep the Islamist terrorists honest, the Obama administration, which negotiated a side deal to exchange seven Iranian criminals for five innocent American hostages, waited for Iran to get a clean bill of health from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), before acceding to Iran’s demands.
Strong stuff, that.
Such displays of weakness before the eyes of the international community and especially those of our Gulf State allies by the current administration are now so commonplace that American eyes glaze over.
In this instance, however, they were the victims of a magician’s cheap trick.
The administration, you see, was able to pull the “pea under the cup” ploy with chief illusionist Secretary of State John Kerry who obfuscated the capitulation to Iran over the nuclear “deal”, illegal ballistic missile test, and sailor hostage taking by announcing the release of the American hostages from Iranian prisons.
Now you see it, now you don’t.
It’s interesting to note that none of the seven convicted Iranian criminals chose to return to Iran after they were pardoned. Unlike the Obama White House, they understand a good thing when they experience it and recognize evil when it looks them straight in the eye.
The cynicism of using America’s joy and happiness over the return of her wronged citizens to cover this administration’s profound ineptitude in foreign affairs was simply too blatant to miss. It is contemptable.
And the Democratic-Socialist party offers more of the same this election cycle in the persona of their leading re-tread candidate for president, Hillary Clinton.
Hers is a nation that issues ultimata then backs away, as was done with Syria thereby co-signing a murderous Assad regime’s death warrant for perhaps hundreds of thousands of Syrians.
Hers is an America that abdicates its responsibility to its Middle Eastern and European allies thus leaving the door open for an ambitious and expanded Russian hegemony not seen since the darkest days of the Cold War.
And hers is an America that leaves its diplomats and their defenders to die at the hands of Islamist terrorists while those charged with their safety, the upper echelons of the State Department and White House, remain disengaged, refusing to acknowledge the danger, yet eager to misrepresent the circumstances surrounding that slaughter.
Hillary Clinton’s America is one where homeland terrorism and lawlessness are fought by disarming Americans and siccing the Justice Department on local law enforcement agencies.
Hillary Clinton, simply put, offers a third term for the Obama eurosocialist agenda. And that is an America far different from the America the voters want and demand.
