Georgia gas prices at 7-year-low

VALDOSTA – The price of oil has dropped to its lowest level is a decade, and Valdosta area gas prices are as low as $1.63 a gallon.

The average price of a gallon of gas is $1.80 in Georgia, and the price of crude oil has fallen below $30 for the first time in 12 years. The drop coincides with concerns about reduced demand for in a China and an increase in production from Iran, which recently came out front under U.N. imposed sanctions.

Gas price tracking website lists $1.45 as the lowest reported price for a gallon of gas in Georgia, with Valdosta drivers seeing $1.64 a gallon at stations on Norman Drive and $1.63 at the Citgo at West Hill Avenue and North St. Augustine Road.

The Energy Information Administration has lowered its forecasts for the year. The EIA expects a gallon of regular unleaded to average $2.03, 40 cents lower than last year’s average.
