VALDOSTA – Two Valdosta residents were displaced Wednesday after a fire significantly damaged their home.

At 10:46 a.m., the Valdosta Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1 Wilmington Court, said VFD Capt. James Clinkscales.

“Units arrived on the scene to find flames and smoke coming from the rear of the structure,” Clinkscales said. “Fire crews quickly made a fire attack from the rear of the structure with a hose.”

VFD personnel on the scene established a water source while additional fire crews performed a search and rescue of the house.

“Approximately 35 percent of the house was severely damaged, with smoke and hear damage of 40 percent,” Clinkscales said. “The cause of the fire is related to trouble with the fire place.”

No VFD personnel were injured during the incident.
