Deputies seize 10 pounds of narcotics, arrest three in Madison drug bust

MADISON – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office seized over 10 pounds of illegal narcotics and arrested three men in a drug bust Thursday.

The Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant Thursday at a residence in the 100 block of S.W. Millinor Street. The warrant was granted after the MSCO Drug Task Force conducted an undercover investigation concerning the possession and sale of marijuana and a synthetic marijuana known as “Spice.”

The investigation led to warrants signed for the arrest of Calvin Jerome Bruton, 37, of Madison. Bruton was charged with two counts of possession of synthetic marijuana with intent to sell and two counts of the sale of synthetic marijuana within 1,000 feet of a child care facility.

During a search of Bruton’s home, investigators reportedly discovered 3.72 pounds of marijuana, 6.67 pounds of “Spice,” 20 doses of a Schedule II drug and a .40 caliber firearm, reports stated.

Two men where present at the resident during the search: Patrick Moore, 23, and Michael Wilson, 39.

Moore and Wilson reportedly provided details of Bruton’s whereabouts, and he was later found in the 100 block of Chickweed Circle. Bruton was reportedly in possession of a handgun when he was taken into custody.

Bruton now faces two more counts of possession of synthetic marijuana with intent to sell within 1,000 of a child care facility, possession of marijuana over 20 grams, possession of synthetic marijuana over three grams, possession of a Schedule II narcotic with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, reports The Madison News.

Moore was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Wilson was charged with resisting arrest, reports stated.
