| December 14, 2015

VALDOSTA — Valdosta Police believe they may have captured the man responsible for several recent commercial burglaries in the area.

There was an increase in the number of burglaries during the past summer, and VPD officers believe the man responsible, Willie James Abrams, 36, is now in custody.

Further investigation lead police to the conclusion that one person was behind many of the summer robberies.  Abrams was identified as an offender in connection with a December burglary and a warrant for his arrest was issued.  Police later obtained warrants related to 12 more burglaries related to Abrams, as a result of their investigation, including convenience stores, offices, and businesses in Valdosta.

Police then had to locate their suspect, Abrams.

A tip on Sunday led officers to a Valdosta motel where they staked out the location looking for Abrams.  He was eventually spotted and as officers moved in for an arrest, the suspect resisted, but was eventually taken into custody.  He was then transported to the Lowndes County Jail.
