Suspect Arrest for Robbing Vehicles

LAKE PARK — A man has been arrested in connection with stealing from parked cars in Lake Park.

Wednesday evening around 8:30, the resident of a Carriage Drive address in Lake Park returned home and noticed a stranger rummaging through a vehicle parked in the driveway. The suspect then began to walk away from the vehicle and the victim followed him while calling 9-1-1.

While following the male suspect, the victim shouted for him to stop and return the property he had taken from inside the vehicle. The suspect briefly stopped and returned the items to the victim, but then snatched the items from the victim’s hand and continued to walk away while asking that the victim not call law enforcement.

Gonzalez, AndresLowndes County deputies soon found the victim and the suspect, identified as Andres Gonzalez, 20, and recovered the victim’s property from Gonzalez. Deputies also discovered that Gonzalez had an active arrest warrant for violation of probation.

Gonzales was arrested and taken to the Lowndes County Jail where he was booked.

Detectives are continuing to investigate and determine if there are additional victims and if other persons were involved. Additional charges may be made in the near future.

Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine expressed his thanks to victim for their effort in keeping this person in sight until deputies arrived.
