HOMERVILLE – Two old rivals will challenge each other for the GHSA Class A-Public Football Championship as Clinch County will face Irwin County Friday in the Georgia Dome.

The two have already played this season, as they always do, with Irwin’s Indians coming out on top of a 28-12 score.  However, this time, the Panthers see a different result as their season has built significant momentum.

Clinch Head Coach Jim Dickerson didn’t like what he saw back in September.

“When i look at that old tape, I see them beating us pretty soundly,” Dickerson stated in a WALB report.

Since that game, Clinch has won 9 straight and see their team coming together at just the right time.

“We’ve all been flying to the ball more. The defense has really been popping. The offensive line has been blocking incredibly,” junior RB Shannon Young told WALB. “It just seems like everybody’s on the same page, and everybody wants the same thing.”

“We feel like we have to go out and beat Irwin since they beat us earlier this year,” sophomore QB/DB Charles McClelland said in the report. “We have to get that ring.”

The game will kick off Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
