PLAINS — Former President Jimmy Carter stated to his Sunday School Class on Sunday that his cancer is “gone.”

The Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting that the former President made the statement at the class he teaches on Sunday’s at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, his hometown.

The report states the information was confirmed by a friend of the Carter family.  Carter further stated that the latest scan performed by his physician detected no cancer.

The 91-year old revealed earlier this year that melanoma had spread from his liver to his brain.  He was restricted by doctors to travel internationally.
