BLAKELY — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has released the names of the two individuals involved in the Tuesday shooting at a Blakely store.

The GBI reported the name of the victim as Derry Eugene Touchtone, 58.  He was shot by Sgt. Mickey White of the Early County Sheriff’s Department.

According to a report from WALB, Touchtone was in his car with hazard lights flashing in the middle of the road when White arrived.  A report had been made to 911 that a man was harassing customers at Jerry’s Country Meat and Catering on Hwy. 45. just after noon.

When Deputy White arrived, Touchtone got out of the car, approached him, and began to hit him, the report stated.

GBI Special Agent In Charge Kim Baker said in the report that White used his Taser, but that did not stop Touchtone’s attack.  The deputy then fired twice at Touchtone, hitting and killing him.
