Police make Arrest in Knife Point Sexual Assault Case

VALDOSTA — The Valdosta Police Department has announced an arrest has been made regarding the knife point sexual assault which occurred on November 19th.

John Clayton Davis, 55, was arrested Monday by Valdosta Police.  This was the result of the investigation by undercover officers and detectives working in the downtown Valdosta area to locate the suspect.

“I know there has been a lot of concerns by the community regarding this incident, but I am very proud of the tenacity of our officers and detectives who worked non-stop until the offender was taken into custody”, said Chief Brian Childress in a VPD Release.

The incident occurred on November 19, at approximately 6:15 in the morning.  A female victim who works in the downtown area parked her car in the Lowndes County Tag Office parking lot and began to walk to work. The victim was approached by a male who grabbed her, held her at knife point and demanded money. The offender took an undisclosed amount of money from the victim, then sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene.
