LAKE CITY — The parents of a slain Columbia County boy and the sisters who were involved in the shooting have been sentenced.

The parents, unnamed in the report from the Associated Press due to allegations of sexual abuse by the sisters, were sentenced to 10 years of probation including two of house arrest.  The couple pled guilty on Wednesday in Lake City to felony child abuse and neglect charges.

After a terrible history of sexual abuse and neglect, the sisters plotted to shot their brother, 16 at the time, to escape confinement in their own home.  The parents were away, as they often were, at the time of the shooting.

The older sister, 15 at the time, was subject to severe abuse at the home and frequently locked in a room for days with only a blanket and a bucket for sanitation.  The younger sister was only 11 at the time.
