Isakson: “Mrs. Clinton doesn’t know what she is talking about…”

WASHINGTON — Senator Isakson, who serves as the chair of the Senate Veterans Affair Committee, responded on Wednesday to presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s take on the VA.

In an interview with WABE, Isakson took aim at Clinton’s accusations that Republicans want to “privatize the VA”.

“…Mrs. Clinton does not really know what she’s talking about, because what we did with the ‘Veterans Choice’ bill last August is give private options to veterans of their choice, to go to the private sector if the VA couldn’t meet their healthcare needs,” Isakson said.

“Nobody’s trying to privatize the VA. What we’re trying to do is maximize the choices that veterans have to healthcare, and that means utilizing the private sector as well.”

The Georgia Senator also responded to Hillary’s plan, which she says will increase VA oversight.

“Oversight’s always important, but results are more important,” Isakson said. “You can have all the oversight in the world and make all the speeches in the world, but if you don’t make the changes that are necessary, it doesn’t do any good.”
