GSP Post 31 Reports 3 Fatalities, 194 Accidents in October

VALDOSTA — The Georgia State Patrol released their monthly activity report related to highway and road incidents in October.

According to Sergeant First Class Jeromy Roberts, Post #31 Valdosta Troopers investigated 194 traffic crashes, resulting in 87 injuries and 3 fatalities during the month of October 2015.

SFC Roberts also said during the month of October, Post #31 Troopers had the following activity: 680 citations, 34 D.U.I. arrests, 94 Seatbelt Violation citations, 31 Child Restraint Violation citations and 295 Speeding citations. Post #31 Troopers also apprehended 2 wanted persons and made 7 drug arrests.

Post #31 Troopers issued 759 warnings during October and accumulated 75 hours conducting Road-Checks during the month.

SFC Roberts reminds everyone to use caution when traveling and be aware of your surroundings. Distracted driving has become a leading cause of fatal crashes on Georgia’s highways. Drivers should avoid using any electronic devices or anything that may divert the driver’s attention from the roadway. Remember to use caution when traveling during the Thanksgiving Holiday Period and allow ample traveling time due to an increase of traffic during this period.
