Discovery to air Helen Hanks Story

| November 4, 2015

VALDOSTA — The story of Helen Hanks’ disappearance will be aired on Investigation Discovery.

Hanks vanished from her Valdosta office at Wilcox Outdoor Advertising back in 1972, leading to a search for her over the next eight years.  Her body was eventually found in 1980 and her boss, Keller Wilcox, was convicted of killing her and concealing her death.  Also implicated was Wilcox’s father and men who helped dig the grave to conceal the body’s remains.

The show will explore the events surrounding this case, and the eventual findings as to what eventually happened to her.  The story was also covered in a 2007 book by David Hanks, her son, entitled The Disappearance.

The episode, entitled “A Hole in Their Hearts,” will air on the “On the Case with Paula Zahn” program Sunday at 10:00 on Investigation Discovery.
