Tift Board of Elections will not Consolidate Precincts

| October 2, 2015

TIFTON — A proposal to consolidate the voting precincts of Tift County in to one precinct has been rejected by the Tift County Board of Elections.

Earlier this week, the board decided not to consolidate, though the idea may be revisited in the future.

Many believed that having the entire county voting at the UGA Tifton Conference Center would place a hardship on many, especially those from rural areas of the county.  Further issues with access and transportation were also factors in the decision.

The proposal would have saved the county $2000 each election and made tabulation faster.
