Skydiver Dies when Parachute Fails

FITZGERALD — A skydiver has been killed after both his main and backup parachutes failed to open.

WALB is reporting the incident occurred Friday around 12:30 pm near the airport in Fitzgerald during an annual skydiving event.

The victim was found near Ed Ward Road and taken to the Dorminy Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
