VALDOSTA — An argument between two men lead to an assault involving others and injuries at a Valdosta apartment complex.

Monday afternoon, Valdosta Police Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Marion Street in reference to an assault.

Upon arrival they made contact with the victim who stated he went to the Green Briar Apartments and proceeded to get into an argument with an unknown male. The argument escalated into a fight, which then resulted into the taking of $30-40 dollars from the victim.

The victim told police he then left, retrieved a baseball bat from his house and returned to the scene armed with the bat.  However, he was then attacked by several unknown males who took the bat from him and began assaulting him with it.

The victim’s step-father then arrived on scene, but he was also assaulted as he was trying to assist the victim.

The offenders were described as three black males, one with long dread locks. They were not identified.

The victim sustained abrasions to his knees and elbows. The step-father reported injuries to his back. EMS arrived on scene, but both the victim and step-father refused treatment.

The case is now being investigated by the Bureau of Investigative Services to include investigating the victim’s involvement that led to the assault.
