Moultrie Couple, Infant killed in Lake County Accident

LAKE COUNTY — A Moultrie couple and their infant daughter were killed in an auto accident on the Florida Turnpike Sunday.  Reports state charges are pending against the driver suspected of causing the crash.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports Thomas Garza, 23, Lillian Luna, 20, and their daughter Brianna Garza, 1, all of Moultrie, were killed in the crash.

According to FHP, their 2001 Nissan Maxima was rear-ended before overturning on its side and catching fire.  The accident occured early Sunday morning before dawn.

The parents died at the scene. The infant died at Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando.

Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes stated in a published report that Garza and Luna’s bodies were so badly burned that dental records were needed to identify them.

Charges are pending against James Dameron, 24 of Orlando. Dameron was driving the other vehicle involved in the crash and was treated for minor injuries.

Alcohol was not believed to have played a role in the crash. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
