ATLANTA — Captive is a film based on the book An Unlikely Angel by Ashley Smith.  It’s a true story about Brian Nichols who escaped from the Fulton County Courthouse in Atlanta on March 11, 2005.

During the escape, Nichols murdered the judge presiding over his trial as well as a court reporter, Sheriff’s deputy and a federal agent.

Nichols then kidnapped Ashley Smith, the book’s author, to use as a hostage. Smith endures this time inspired by Rick Warren’s The Purpose Driven Life while Nichols searches for redemption.

John Clark has the interview.
