Victim Identified in Wednesday Shooting

ALBANY — The Dougherty County Corner has identified the victim of a Wednesday morning shooting in Albany.

The incident resulted in the death of one person after a shooting in the 1100 block of Newton Road, Albany, in the parking lot of Brothers Corner store.

Coroner Michael Fowler identified the person killed in this morning’s shooting as Richard Butler, 35, in a report published by WALB.

Police report several shots were fired around 7:00 AM Wednesday.  Two victims were taken by ambulance to Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany, both with severe injuries.  Butler later died from his gunshot wounds.

As of this report, no arrests have been made.
