Valdosta High School Announces Homecoming 2015 Activities

Valdosta High School will celebrate Homecoming the week of September 14 – 19, 2015. The week will consist of dress up days, talent show, sidewalk chalk contest, door decorating contest, t-shirt contest, spirit chain contest, pep rally, parade, football game with the homecoming court, and the Homecoming Dance. This year’s theme – The Valdosta High School Wildcats Present: Let’s Play (Video Games).

The dress up days are as follows: Monday, September 14, Board Games; Tuesday, September 15, Old School Video Games; Wednesday, September 16, New Video Games; Thursday, September 17, Sports Games; and Friday, September 18, Spirit Day, show your Wildcat pride by wearing your black and gold.

On Monday, September 14, the school will host a Sidewalk Chalk Contest on the sidewalk between the Performing Arts Center and the main building. All sidewalk art displays are to be completed prior to Monday, September 14. Therefore, clubs or organizations may complete their display between Friday afternoon, September 11, and Sunday, September 13. The Homecoming theme should be incorporated into your displays. There will be first, second and third place winners. Winners will be announced and the prizes will be given at the Homecoming Pep Rally. (Download an entry form here.)

Judging for the annual Door Decorating Contest will be Wednesday, September 16. Everyone is encouraged to get into the Homecoming spirit by decorating the door to their classroom or office to garner excitement for the school and events associated with the homecoming theme.

A talent show will be held on Wednesday, September 16, at 3:00 pm in the VHS Little Theater. Admission will be $3. The annual Homecoming Pep Rally will be announced soon!

The annual Homecoming Parade will be Friday, September 18, with line-up beginning at 2:30 pm on Brookwood Drive and Slater Street. The parade will begin at 3:30 pm and head north on Patterson Street ending at Valdosta Middle School. The community is encouraged to participate in the parade, simply complete a parade registration form to get your number for the line-up.

That night, the Valdosta Wildcats will play the Veterans Warhawks at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium with a kick-off of 8:00 pm. Tickets for the game can be purchased at the Ticket Office located at 1204 Williams Street.

The final event of the week will be the annual Homecoming Dance on Saturday, September 19, in the VHS Gymnasium from 7:30 pm – 10:30 pm. Tickets to the dance can be purchased during lunch beginning on Wednesday, September 9 for $10 each.
