Straka bows out of US Amateur 6&5

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. — Georgia golfer and Lowndes alum Sepp Straka’s run at the 2015 U.S. Amateur Championship came to an end Thursday morning.

Straka, a senior for the Bulldogs, dropped a 6&5 decision to Derek Bard on Thursday at Olympia Fields Country Club.

Straka won the first hole, but Bard answered by taking Nos. 4-6, 8-9 and 12-13.

Straka was the final Bulldog in the tournament as fellow senior Lee McCoy and sophomore Zach Healy were eliminated earlier.
