Savannah Prepares for Possible Flooding

Savannah

SAVANNAH — With all recent the rain around the area, flooding is a major concern for those in Savannah.

Right now, the potential for flooding is high and the Red Cross in Savannah says they are prepared for the worst.

Officials with the Red Cross worked throughout the weekend to make sure their plans would be adequate for the fallout from former Tropical Storm Erika. The Red Cross says they are ready for an all-hands-on-deck situation.

“So we work in lockstep with our emergency management, and we have already identified areas that typically flood, so we are prepared to be able to respond if we are asked to open a shelter or if we have to partner with some of the emergency agencies,” said Esther Sheppard, Executive Director of Red Cross Savannah.
