Man Drowns off of Amelia Island

FERNANDINA — A man drown off the coast of Amelia Island Saturday afternoon.

According to the Florida Times Union, Benjamin Ayers drown just after noon on Saturday near the Scott Road Public Beach Access, just off of the Amelia Island Parkway.

The report stated Ayers had been in waist-deep water when he was hit by a wave, submerging him.  As he resurfaced, he was hit by another wave and did not resurface.  He was later taken to a local hospital but never recovered, being pronounced dead.

    Even MS Word would catch the incorrect tense for “drown” that should have been “drowned”. Repeatedly used incorrectly. Do they have an editor?
