SAVANNAH — Police are looking for the man who apparently shot a woman then robbed her after she pepper-sprayed him during a fight early Saturday morning in a southside Savannah hotel.

About 4:28 a.m., a 22-year-old Florida woman heard someone knocking on the door of her room at the Econolodge off Abercorn Street, according to Eunica Baker, Savannah-Chatham police spokeswoman, in a report published by the Savannah Morning News. When the woman opened the door, a man reportedly forced his way inside.

They fought.  When the woman used pepper spray on the intruder, he shot her according to the report.  He ran away after grabbing her cellphone.

Detectives are investigating the possibility the two knew each other or if this was a random incident.

Police say the shooting suspect is a 23- to 24-year-old, light complexioned black man, about 5 feet 6 inches tall with low-shaven hair and a mustache.
