TALLAHASSEE — FSU opted to take two team photos during media day this year, one featuring suspended running back Dalvin Cook and one without him.

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said he can’t make a final decision on Cook’s status with the team until he gets more information about the battery charge the Seminoles projected starting running back faces.

When Fisher was asked Sunday what he specifically waiting for, the coach responded, “The exact facts of the case and … the truth.”

Cook allegedly punched a woman in the face on June 23 outside of a Tallahassee bar, Clydes & Costellos. The woman, who appeared to be intoxicated, had bruises and abrasions on her face, according to a probable cause affidavit compiled by the Tallahassee Police Department. She told officers she was punched after refusing to give her phone number to or go home with an FSU football player.

Cook has denied the charges, saying he left the area before the argument between football players and the woman escalated.

While reserve quarterback Andre Johnson’s offseason altercation with a woman in a bar was captured on video, there was no video of Cook’s encounter with the woman.

Fisher said he had clear evidence Johnson had violated team policy not allowing athletes to hit women.
