VALDOSTA – Throughout each football season for the past ten years, the Gulf South Conference has selected one game each week as the GSC Game of the Week. That trend continues in 2015, as the GSC announced today its schedule for the 11th season, which will be aired on GSC-TV and ESPN3.

“The Gulf South Conference fields the top teams in NCAA Division II,” said Matt Wilson Commissioner of the GSC. “It makes sense for us to work with ESPN to showcase these institutions and student-athletes on its live multi-screen network, ESPN3.”

Of the ten selected games, Valdosta State will be featured in three contests, beginning with a rematch of last season’s NCAA DII Football quarterfinal matchup between the Blazers and the West Georgia Wolves, set to take place in Carrollton, Ga. at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10th.

Two weeks later, Valdosta State will prepare for a Thursday night 7:30 p.m. skirmish on October 22 against the Shorter Hawks in Rome, Ga., and the following week will find the Blazers back at home for their third and final GSC Game of the Week, a Halloween showdown on October 31 at 2:00 p.m. against the rival Tigers of West Alabama.

“We are excited about the games featured on the slate. Every week presents intriguing story-lines and high caliber match-ups,” added Wilson.

Following the success of its initial year in 2014 as the exclusive carrier of GSC-TV, ESPN3 extended their agreement for two years starting in 2015. Valdosta State joins Florida Tech, North Alabama, and West Georgia with three games on the 2015 GSC Game of the Week schedule, followed by Delta State, Mississippi College, Shorter, and West Alabama with two games each.

The Blazers kick off the 2015 football season on Saturday, September 5th in Albany, Ga. against the Albany State Golden Rams. Following the Cobb County Clash in Powder Springs, Ga. on September 12th and a bye week on September 19th, the flame red and black will open up their home schedule on Saturday September 26th against Cumberland.
