ORLANDO – The Florida Collegiate Summer League has announced its selections for the 2015 Florida League All-Star game to be held on Tues., July 7, at Sanford Memorial Stadium in Sanford, Fla.

Tanner Long, a recent signee for the Thomas University baseball team’s 2015-2016 recruiting class, has been named the starting right fielder for the North All-Stars. The junior transfer from Lake Sumter Community College is a current member of the Leesburg Lightning summer ball team. Through 21 games, Long is second in the FCSL in batting average (.385) and first in hits (30). Long has started every contest for the Lightning while scoring 17 runs and driving in 10.

“I have had an amazing experience so far this summer,” stated Long. “Playing for the Lightning is truly one of the most fun times of my life; the atmosphere is like no other. I have seen a lot of great pitching and had to work on getting better each and every day.”

During his two seasons at LSCC, the Lady Lake, Fla., native collected 62 hits, two homeruns, and 40 RBIs in 71 games of play. Long looks to make an immediate impact for the Night Hawks in the 2016 season.

Long continued, “To be named an All-Star in this league is a tremendous honor. When I heard the news that I was going to be the starting right fielder, I was completely ecstatic! There is no better feeling in the world than knowing that my hard work is starting to pay off. I’m excited to get started at Thomas in the fall!”
