MACON – A surveillance video released Wednesday from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office showed a crowd of teens destroying thousands of dollars in merchandise at a Walmart store.

The police report said 40 to 50 teens entered the store around 1:45 a.m. Sunday and immediately began throwing and shattering items.

Investigators arrested one of the teens, Kharron Green, 17, the same morning when he returned to the store after dropping his cell phone. Deputies said Green’s parents recognized their son on store video and turned him in to authorities.

“This is my first time ever experiencing something like this happening in my years of law enforcement,” said Lt. Randy Gonzalez with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Gonzalez said Green told deputies the teens were at a large gathering before the crime.

Green is charged as an adult with enticing a riot, second-degree criminal damage to property and street gang activity after one of the store cameras shows him throwing a gang sign. He is scheduled to go before a superior court judge on the gang activity charge next week.
