VALDOSTA — Valdosta Police are reporting an arrest involving a juvenile discharging a firearm in city limits.

Monday evening a complainant was called into the Valdosta 911 Center reporting gunshots. Detectives from the Bureau of Investigations responded to the call.

Once on the scene, officers reported evidence that a firearm had been discharged.  They could not be determine, however, whether the weapon was fired at any one person in particular.

Witness were able to help police develop a person of interest by providing a detailed description of the person who fired the gun.

Detectives identified a 15-year old male as a suspect. The juvenile was arrested Wednesday morning at his residence. He has been charged with possession of a firearm by a minor (felony), reckless conduct (misdemeanor), and discharging a firearm in the city limits (misdemeanor). The Department of Juvenile Justice was contacted and the juvenile was detained and transported to RYDC in Thomasville.

At this time, the juvenile has not been linked to any other discharge of firearms cases. Detectives are still looking to see if there is any connection to other cases and ballistics testing is being conducted.
