Jackson Crowned Miss Reigning America National Junior Teen

HAHIRA — Shayla Jackson, an upcoming 8th grade YLEAD member and honor roll student at Hahira Middle School is now Miss Reigning America’s National Jr Teen

The Reigning America system stands for Community, Character and Confidence.  They look for girls that serve others by doing community service. Shayla is an active volunteer for the Children’s Advocacy Center She has overseen a toy drive at Christmas, volunteered at the annual Clay shoot, helped lay new mulch on the playground during her Spring Break and along with other YLEAD members along with attending the hearing to obtain land for a new facility.

071115There were 1,076 reported cases of child abuse in Lowndes county in 2014.  The CAC relies on donations to operate.

Representing the state in her age group, Shayla competed with 22 other girls between 13-15 years of age.

All contestants competed in Interview, on stage introduction, Reign on the Runway and Evening gown.

Shayla competed in several optional categories and was crowned most photogenic, print model, overall top model for the senior division (13 and up) and Americas Reigning Miss for top ad sales in her division. She also received the Presidential Points of Light gold award for volunteerism, 1st runner up in portfolio and scrapbook winner.

Shayla competed in Blue Jean Baby category. Each contestant decorates blue jeans with whatever they choose and models them. Shayla decorated her jeans to support the Children’s Advocacy Center, Shayla won this optional category in her division.

During her onstage 30 second introduction Shayla discussed the CAC and volunteering.

With her Prestigious National Title, Shayla hopes to raise awareness for the CAC. They are in need of a new building and rely on donations. With the upcoming school year they are also in need of school supplies, book bags and snacks. These can be dropped off at the facility or Hahira Middle School YLEAD will be collecting at both Wal Mart locations on Aug 1st and 2nd.

As Miss Reigning America Jr Teen Shayla won $1,000 scholarship, an expense paid trip to the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, a number of gifts including luggage, clothing and was one of eight winners of the pageants National Titles to be interviewed for an article in American Model and Pageant Magazine.
