THOMASVILLE — The results have been released related to the death of a child last week in Thomasville who fell between a refrigerator and cabinets in his home while reaching for a snack.

Thomasville GBI Assistant Special Agent in charge Bahan Rich reported that preliminary autopsy results show the Thomas County child who died last week died from “position asphyxia.”

The GBI has chosen not to release the child’s name.

Police reports stated last wee that the 21-month old boy suffocated when he got stuck between the kitchen counter and the refrigerator in his home.  It is believed the boy may have climbed up on the counter and fallen between them.

Authorities are not sure how long the child was stuck there, but investigation shows it could have happened any time between 7:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m

GBI says no other injuries were noted, and that they’re still waiting for final test results.
