BRUNSWICK — A San Diego, California federal court has convicted a Brunswick couple on embezzlement charges.  Worse, they stole from injured war veterans.

Federal prosecutors won the conviction of a sea glass artist, Judith Paixao, and a film maker, Kevin Lombard, for stealing nearly half-a-million dollars from injured war veterans, hoping to get career training in the film industry.

It turns out the Wounded Marine Careers Foundation was a complete scam.  Only a way for the couple to steal from their students, war veterans, and the Veteran’s Administration itself.

The two will be sentenced in October.
