VALDOSTA –  Monday, Valdosta Police Officers were dispatched to apartments at 1616 E. Moore Street related to a report of a white male outside the apartments, shaking a plastic bottle.

Upon arrival, Police found what appeared to be a “shake and bake” method of methamphetamine production.

The nearby apartments were evacuated and the Valdosta Fire Department responded.  Detectives from both VPD Narcotics Unit and Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit also responded to the scene.

The “lab” was properly dismantled and several pieces of evidence showing meth production were located.

Detectives arrested Michael Adkins, 39, and charged him with possession of meth and manufacturing of meth.

Joel Marme, 34, was charged with possession of meth and possession of substances for the manufacturing of meth.

Both Adkins and Marme were transported to Lowndes County Jail.  The chemicals that were located were disposed per OSHA standards.  The area was later rendered clear for residents to return to their apartments.
