Guilty Verdict in Lee County Murder Trial

| June 29, 2015

ALBANY — Jurors issued a guilty verdict in the retrial of a man charged with stabbing and killing an elderly man during a robbery.

Timothy French was found guilty of malice murder, felony murder, and armed robbery.

The jury’s verdict comes after another jury failed to reach a verdict in a May trial.

French was charged with stabbing 82-year-old AJ Mosley inside Mosley’s Smithville home during a robbery in 2008.

Investigators were not able to return any leads in the case for many weeks in the case, and did not arrest French until January 2014.

Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation later said that French had always been a person of interest.

According to the Georgia Department of Corrections, Timothy French has served four previous sentences in prison for non-violent crimes.
