TALLAHASSEE — Florida State and Alabama have agreed to open the 2017 season in Atlanta.

The Palm Beach Post is reporting Seminoles athletic director Stan Wilcox told a group of Seminoles boosters at a Board of Directors meeting in Charleston, S.C., on Friday that the game is set and although a contract has not been signed an agreement was in place. The game is expected to be played in the new stadium that will serve as the home of the Atlanta Falcons, which is scheduled to open in 2017.

In November, the Palm Beach Post was first to report discussions were underway by the two schools to meet on the neutral field.

The schools will receive between $4 and $5 million for the game, the Post has learned. The contracts will be signed soon at which time an official announcement will be made.
