LAKE CITY — A 16-month old girl was found in a car.  The child was not breathing and unresponsive to attempts to save her.

The incident occurred Tuesday.  The child had been in the car all day after her father reported to police he had forgotten to take her to daycare.  She was not discovered until the father returned home that afternoon.  He then called 911.

The parents are both employed by the State of Florida in the 3rd Judicial Circuit.

The child’s mother, Wendy Timonera Kwon, works as an assistant state attorney.  The father, Young Kwon, is an assistant public defender.

An investigation is ongoing by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The very office that prosecutes these types of offenses will now have to address this issue. This will be interesting to watch. Don’t get me wrong, I feel very bad and will pray for the child and the parents. However, this story has a twist.

I just don’t see how someone can forget their child is in the car. This is a devastating problem, a horrible suffering death for the innocent child.
I saw on Facebook where one Mother takes her left shoe off and puts it on the back seat of the car in order to remind herself her child is in the back seat.
What else can we do to help these absent minded parents?

My heart goes out to the parents.

I almost forgot my daughter once. Very scary. I usually didn’t take her to daycare as it was on my husband’s way to work. One day he had a meeting so he put her in the car and started it, I piled our older children in (I usually took them to school) and we headed off. One of the kids realized he forgot schoolwork and we had to hurriedly return home and were now running late. I was flustered as we were late and the baby was asleep in her seat. Got the kids to school and went on autoplay taking a right out of the school and was halfway to work when a glance in the rearview mirror registered that the carseat was there. Freaked out at what I almost forgot and turned around and took her to daycare. All I could think the rest of the day is what could have been a disaster. The baby slept through all of my worry and guilt about the almost…

I don’t even forget my milk or frozen meat in the backseat. How can someone forget a child in the backseat. I’d have to be high as a kite to do so. Maybe these people were?

I’m sorry parents, BUT HOW DO YOU FORGET YOUR CHILD IN THE CAR???. You just spent five minutes putting them in the car seat! Stop being so wrapped up in yourself. MY GOD.
