Valdosta > Gayle and Rice Announce for Mayorial Race

VALDOSTA — Valdosta Mayor John Gayle announced Friday he will seek re-election.

Gayle made the announcement Friday morning outside the Valdosta City Hall building.  He noted he was proud of his accomplishments and would like to continue his efforts.

He specifically lauded his review of city ordinance to make Valdosta more inviting to business prospects.

He was quoted on WALB as stating the reason for his decision to run again was, “there was so many things to be thankful for,” stated Gayle.

Others made it known they will be challenging Gayle this fall for the Mayor’s chair.  Longtime Fire Chief J.D. Rice also announced he will challenge Gayle with a formal announcement coming on Saturday morning.
