Georgia > Blue Bell Ice Cream Announces Full Recall

| April 22, 2015

TEXAS — Blue Bell is pulling all its products off store shelves after two samples of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream tested positive for listeria, a potentially deadly bacteria.

The Texas-based company says it’s not certain how the bacteria was introduced to its facilities, but it’s recalling ice cream, frozen yogurt, sherbet and frozen snacks in 23 states and internationally just to be sure.

The first recall in Blue Bell’s 108-year history was issued last month, after the CDC linked ice cream tainted with listeria to three deaths at a Kansas hospital.
Five others in Kansas and Texas were sickened, too.

Listeria primarily affects pregnant women, infants, older adults and those with weakened immune systems.
