VALDOSTA — Two men robbed a United States Postal Service employee on the 1600 block of Slater Street, on Wednesday.

The Valdosta Police Department said that the two men approached the employee inquiring about a package being delivered to a home on West Cranford Avenue. The men were then asked to provide proper identification for the package. After the ID did not work, one of the men grabbed the package and the two men fled the scene in a black vehicle.

One of the men was identified by the VPD Power Squad and Narcotics Unit, as 21-year-old Craig Lamar Debruce. Debruce voluntarily came to the police department where he spoke to detectives and USPS inspectors. He was then arrested and taken to the Lowndes County Jail.

Debruce is expected to receive a robbery warrant and possibly federal criminal charges as well.

The package has yet to be recovered and police are investigating the whereabouts of the second suspect.
