TELFAIR COUNTY — The Telfair County Sheriff’s Office has charged a man with robbing graves for metal.

Bobby Nathaniel Marchant, 34 of Milan, has been accused of removing metal from graves at a cemetary at the Red Hill Church in Telfair County.

Marchant was charged and arrested on two counts of felony theft by taking, according to a press release by the Telfair County Sheriff’s Office reported in the Macon Telegraph.

The Sheriff has requested family and friends of those buried in the cemetery inspect graves from signs of theft or other disturbances.

Investigators have already found one item at an area scrap yard.
