Pooler > FBI Makes Child Exploitation Arrests

ATLANTA— The Federal Bureau of Investigation has arrested several suspects on charges of sexual exploitation of children.

Special Agent in Charge J. Britt Johnson, in conjunction with Chief Mark Revenew of the Pooler Police Department, announced the arrests in  Pooler, Georgia as part of a Savannah-based FBI-led Southeast Georgia Child Exploitation Task Force operation.

Four individuals were arrested on felony state charges of sexual exploitation of children after traveling to Pooler for purposes of having sex with a minor child.  Those arrested were Enoc Jose Jerez, 35 of Savannah, William David McTaggar, 22 of Albion, Illinois, James Daniel Leahy, 29, of Fleming, and Joshua R. Smith, 21 of Savannah.

The Task Force, in conjunction with the Pooler Police Department, operates to locate and recover juveniles sexually exploited through prostitution and to identify and arrest those who are exploiting the juveniles. The Task Force is comprised of agents and officers from the FBI, GBI, Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, and the Pooler Police Department.

All of the suspects were processed and initially detained at the Chatham County Detention Facility.
