Hahira > Hahira Middle FFA Member Places 2nd; Advances to Area Competition

| February 4, 2015

HAHIRA — Emily Taylor, an eighth grade student at Hahira Middle School, placed 2nd at the preliminary Creed Speaking Leadership Development Event held yesterday in Echols County. Taylor, who also serves as the president of the Hahira Middle FFA chapter, prepared for the event by memorizing and reciting the FFA Creed.

The Creed was written by E.M. Tiffany, and adopted by the National FFA Organization in 1930. Since then, young students have honed their public speaking skills by reciting the Creed before a panel of judges. Students are judged on their oral speaking skills, poise, gestures, mannerisms, and ability to answer oral questions and reasoning.

Emily will advance to the next level of competition scheduled in mid-February in Appling County.

  1. Judy Guay says:

Emily is a rising star that peers emulate. She has the ability to encourage others just by being present in their lives. As I work with her each day and watch her develop, I see a determined young lady with the courage to tackle the most difficult assignments and turn them into opportunities for growth. She is truly the model of a student living through adversity and rising to her potential. Good Luck in Appling County!
