ATLANTA — State Legislators passed a Senate bill that would provide legal protection in the event someone breaks into a parked, hot car to save a child or elderly person.

Senate Bill 34 comes as a result of several cases, most evident that of a Cobb County man who left his 22-month old child in a hot car, which killed him.

The bill passed the Senate by a 50-2 vote and will now go to the House for consideration.
