| January 1, 2015

VALDOSTA — Members of the Valdosta Fire Department relax at VFD Station #1 to discuss the Dec. 29 event that took place on Old Clyattville Road. Twenty-seven off-duty Valdosta firefighters reported within 30 minutes of being called to assist with the rescue efforts associated with the tornado Monday. These VFD personnel demonstrated their dedication to the VFD mission and their commitment—both on and off duty—to protect and serve citizens. As a result of their efforts, there was no interruption of fire protection services in the city.

I am proud of our local service men and wommen. The ones who will get up in the middle of a family dinner to protect and serve others they don’t even know. That kind of thing takes a big heart and a lot of courage to do what they do on a daily basis. So thank you and God Bless!!!
